Sunday Stakes Part 2: RT goes to Santa Anita and two new tracks: Hastings and Sunray Park

The first post is at 6:33 pm EDT

RT

Chapter 2
The $200K G2 Summertime Oaks, Santa Anita 6
The $60K Dine Stakes, Sunray Park 10
The $200K G2 Monrovia Stakes, Santa Anita 7
The $50K George Boyd Stakes, Hastings 6 from beautiful Vancouver, BC.

6:33p Santa Anita 6th
3yo F&M going 8.5 Furlongs
5 – Flor De La Mar (5/2) Yessiree…we have the worlds’ top connections – Godolphin + Bob Baffert + Mike Smith. I’m in, even though she was the odds on in The Kentucky Oaks and had an epic fail. She’ll have to chase down the 3 – Sneaking Out (2/1) who is stretching out for the first time and I think, given this filly’s stretch prowess, she’ll get it done.
1 – My Majestic Rose (4/1) if the other four horses aren’t mindful, skilled jockey Flavian Pratt will unleash this beast down the lane. Coming off a $100K MSW and jumping into a G2 event is a leap; however, trainer Brissett skilled at prep, moving his stable up in class and gets the bonus of Santa Anita’s leading rider.
Santa Anita 6 Bets:
5 - $100/w $200/p
$25 Exacta 5/1

6:51p Sunray Park 10
3yo’s bred in The Land of Enchantment going 6.5 Furlongs
5 – My Boanerges (3/1) yes, I googled the name and it had no phallic reference. Boanerges is a surname given to John by Jesus. Must’ve missed that one in catechism classes. This guy is going to zoom the track and not be caught. Trainer Weston Martin and jockey Jansen Melancon en fuego with 14 wins/44%. Martin’s stats are incredible – 25% moving up in class, 43% in 2nd races after a layoff, 39% when his horse won the last race and 22% overall.

Sunray Park 10 Bets:
Father Gillespie…if this hits, you guys get the dough….make sure you have a chat with the big guy ASAP.
$150/w $300/p

7:03p Santa Anita 7th
The geniuses at The Great Race Place finally figured out that running downhill, then passing over dirt and back to grass was dangerous. Ya’ think?

Therefore, for today, this event has been moved to 5 furlongs on the turf for 3yo+ F&M

8 – Belvoir Bay (9/5) looks to be the class in this field and whereas, under normal circumstances, I agree. That said, there is something about horses returning from Meyden in Dubai that seem to not fire their next trip. My money is going to be on 4 – Painting Corners (4/1) and 3 – Rocky Policy (12/1). Both mares absolutely crush 5 furlongs with Rocky damn near hitting a sub :56 last out. They’ll make the rest try to catch up and I don’t see it here.
Santa Anita 7 Bets:
$5 Exacta Box 4-3-8
3 - $50/w $100/p

7:29p Hastings 6
If you ever get a chance to visit this track, do it. After an Alaskan cruise, we waited for our next leg of the journey and after wandering the pier, we decided to visit Vancouver in greater depth. After wandering for a couple of hours, I looked at my squeeze and told her that there is no way we’re leaving for a few days. It took zero to convince her and one of those days we visited Hastings. The backdrop is breathtaking. I know, quit the droning and tell you who the f**king winner of this race is, correct?
6 – Weekend Wizard (4/1) 4yo gelding has ran faster versus tougher. There’s the answer.
Hastings 6 Bets:
6 - $50/w $100/p
