2024 Travelers Championship Betting Preview: 3 Best Bets for Thursday, June 20

Wades Bets

Golf fans, if you tailed our last article for the 2024 U.S. Open, you cashed in on 4 of 5 tickets for a nice +2 unit event! We are back this week at the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.

This event will be headlined by some big names, and this is poised to be another fantastic PGA Event!

The Course

TPC River Highlands is a very short course, sitting at par 70, holding 69 bunkers and 5 water holes. The greens are very small, decently narrow fairways, and one of the top 20 ranked easier courses on tour for these pros.

Driving accuracy is going to be a premium with the narrow fairways, and with the size of greens, hitting greens in regulation and scrambling are going to be key determining factors to who takes home the crown. Along with the dialed in putter, these are the statistics I will be looking for in players this week.

Henley Looking to Finish Top 20 Again

Russell Henley has seen success on this course in recent years, finishing T6(17-18), and finishing T19, twice, last season, and in 20-21. He has 6 top 20 finishes in 14 events.

He comes in with a hot hand after finishing T7 at the U.S. Open, looking to keep his rhythm in a familiar place. Henley ranks 8th in strokes gained tee to green, 5th in driving accuracy, 42nd in approach to green, 40th in proximity, 24th in scrambling, and with 60+ bunkers, is ranked 1st on tour with sand save%.

Add in his 21st in putting, he has a good chance to find a great finish again if he can keep his greens in regulation in check.

Brian Harman Loves This Course

At plus money Harman is a play on this course. He has finished T2, T8, T5, MC, T8, and  T6 over his last 5 consecutive seasons. This is purley a play on his ability to navigate this course, he knows where to position himself, depending on the hold position and he seems to know the right angles to attack when needed.

His tour statistic rankings that I targeted for this course are also in good form. He sits 21st in strokes gained, tee-to-green, and 24th in strokes gained putting.

He ranked 37th in driving accuracy, 56th in approach, and 37th in proximity. He also ranked 43th in scrambling and 24th in one-putt %, which could be crucial on smaller greens. He has the stats and course history to play this plus money!

Patrick Cantlay Looks to Build on U.S.Open

Cantlay is another golfer that has good history here, who is also coming in with great form. Cantlay has finished T4, T13, T13, T11, and T15 over his last 5 years at this event. He has a knack for this course, and he also has a knack for following up a great performance in the U.S. Open as he has done in the past.

The price is steep, but one I am willing to pay based on recent course history, and form coming in, finishing T3 at U.S.Open. His tour statistic rankings are good enough to get him into the top 20 here.

Sitting at 39th strokes gained tee-to-green,  41st in birdie average, 60th in total driving, top 65 in approaches from within 125 to 200, 33rd in scrambling, and 27th in one-putt %. He can finish well here if he drives accurately and hits enough greens in regulation with 1 putts!

Best Bets:
Russell Henley Top 20 (-105) Bet365
Brian Harman Top 20 (+120) Bet365

Patrick Cantlay Top 20 (-150) Bet365
