When it comes to fantasy football, you can’t find a better system than Underdog Fantasy Best Ball. It’s a simplified version of fantasy football that only requires you to draft a team. It’s an excellent way to practice drafting, play for some real money, and have a no maintenance teams involving your favorite players. The best part is Underdog offers a special welcome bonus for new players! New players can get up to $250 in bonus funds with their first deposit match of 50%! If you’ve ever played fantasy football, then you will feel right at home at Underdog. They are a terrific system that is way less involved than other fantasy football leagues. You don’t even need to set a lineup each week. It’s truly a set-it-and-forget-it type of system that makes it easy to play multiple leagues. The only real time-consuming part of the process is the draft, which, in our opinion, is also the most fun!
Drafts will start when the room is full, so you can quickly jump into a league. Each room will have a different number of people and cost different amounts to join. The lowest entry point is $3, so getting started is cheap. The prize pool is based on the number of players, up to 12 for most rooms, and the buy-in price minus a fee. So, for a room with 12 people and a $3 buy-in, the winner would earn $32. This only goes up as you join more expensive leagues. There are also some massive leagues with 1000s of players that can net the winner thousands or even a million dollars!
The best part is that you don’t have to track and maintain your team constantly. After the draft, the game will fill out your starting roster spots with the highest earners for the position. So you’ll never regret leaving that one player on your bench who scored 30 points. It’s a no-regret system that we adore.
The drafts are simple, too. They’re a stand snake draft, so the pick order alternates back and forth. Players select a roster of 18 players, including a quarterback, three wide receivers, two running backs, a flex, and a tight end. There are no kickers or defense. It’s easy to jump right into, and give yourself a chance to win it, big or small!
In fantasy, hitting those first couple of picks is critical regardless of your draft position. We’ll give you a few names we like and think you should prioritize for your next draft! We’ll focus heavily on wide receiver talent because best ball is a PPR league focusing on receptions.
Amon-Ra St. Brown
CeeDee Lamb
Christian McCaffrey
These are our favorite top players. All three have elite upside to be the top players in the league. With CeeDee Lamb signing an extension, he should be locked in this year as the top option for Dak Prescot. You don’t need to hear much of why you should take McCaffrey. When healthy, he’s persistently one of the best fantasy players. Round it out, Amon-Ra St. Brown returns to one of the best offenses in the league. It makes him an easy take to be a high-impact player again!
Moving down the draft board, here are some midrange talents we like. Guys that have a chance to sneak into the top tier of players, but it isn’t quite a sure thing either.
Josh Jacobs
Amari Cooper
Alvin Kamara
In this group, we have some guys who have done it in the past but haven’t been at the top of their game. Josh Jacobs struggled last year following his season as one of the most impressive backs in the league. With a move out of Las Vegas up to Green Bay, he’ll likely be a solid option. On the other hand, Amari Cooper had a great year last year. As Brown’s top WR, he’ll get a healthy number of targets all year. With the potential to go for a few massive games, too! Alvin Kamara hasn’t been who he used to be. However, this year could be a little different for him, as he is one of the best past-catching running backs in the league. He’ll bring value with the high level of target he can expect this season!
Now, on to some names that will still be around in the later part of your draft. Guys that have a chance to break out into stars but are far from a sure thing! There are a ton of great options for sleepers this year, but we’ve narrowed down our top few!
Brian Thomas Jr.
Jonathan Brooks
Ezekiel Elliot
Brian Thomas Jr. is going to a Jacksonville team that needs more receiver talent, and he has it. After becoming a phenom at LSU, he earned his spot in the first round of this year’s draft. Thomas Jr could become an elite prospect if the stars all align! Jonathan Brooks may not have been the highest-drafted talent, but he looks like a guy who can have an impact early in his career, and he is threatening to take the starting RB spot for Chuba Hubbard this year. Ezekiel Elliot and his triumphant return to the Cowboys rounds out our list. Following his great years with the New England Patriots. He’ll now have his work cut out on this offense, but we believe he could be a traffic option for Dak and the Boys this year!
