Being separated by a mere 60 miles or so, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa and Rivers Casino Philadelphia are, ostensibly, competitors for the hearts, minds and wallets of the region’ gamblers. But like politics, the lucrative online gaming realm makes for strange bedfellows.
The two entities have just launched a Pennsylvania-accessible app called Borgata Online Casino. The affiliation with Rivers allows BetMGM, the online arm of MGM Resorts—which has no bricks-and-mortar properties in the Keystone State—to expand its digital-gaming footprint there. In December BetMGM launched a similar operation with Hollywood Casino, which is located in Grantville, Pa.
According to a BetMGM official, this second partnership is designed to capitalize on the popularity of the Borgata brand in the Philly market.
“There are few casino brands as well-respected as Borgata, evident by the success we've seen with the Borgata Casino app in New Jersey,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt. “Pennsylvania marks an important milestone for us as we introduce the Borgata Casino brand to the first state outside of New Jersey. We're confident that players in Pennsylvania will enjoy the digital betting experience of Atlantic City's premier casino.”
The Borgata Casino app boasts more than 150 slots and table games, including Premium Blackjack Pro and MGM Grand Millions. Its progressive jackpot has a minimum of $300,000. Of course, sports betting is also offered.
New players receive a 100% “welcome deposit” match (up to $1,000) and $20 in free play.
