WEDNESDAY’S SINGLE DIGITS

>>> So, you may have seen that the Phillies hit at least four home runs in consecutive games for the first time since 2009. In fact, they had done it six times before Monday/Tuesday, all in the 11 seasons from 1999 to 2009.

They have never hit four or more home runs in three consecutive games. Only 10 MLB teams have done that, the last two being the 2018 Athletics and 2018 Yankees.

>>> Meanwhile, the Yankees set an MLB mark Tuesday by homering in their 28th consecutive game.

The Phillies team mark is 18, set in 2008 (Sept. 3-22).

>>> Before joining the Phillies last week, Brad Miller had a career batting average as a pinch-hitter of .154 (8-for-52, 0 home runs). As a Phillie coming off the bench, he is 3-for-4 with a walk and is just a double short of pinch-hitting for the cycle for his new team.

>>> Miller teamed with Jay Bruce on Monday to give the Phillies their first pinch-hit home runs in consecutive games since April 14-15, 2013, when Laynce Nix and Chase Utley did the honors.
